POSITION SUMMARY Manage all Pharmacy operations including the allocation of work assignments, supervision and development of staff. Formulate budget, policies and standard operating procedures for pharmacy department ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Provide comprehensive patient care accurately processing and dispensing prescription orders; administering immunizations and counseling patients. Order and stock pharmaceutical drugs and non-pharmaceutical supplies. Secure and maintain confidential information, controlled medications and required documentation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develop pharmacy policies, procedures and protocols. Recommend formulary and review the use of non-formulary and/or restricted items for appropriateness and/or approval. Order and purchase pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, or drugs, maintaining stock/inventory and storing and handling it properly. Plan, implement, and maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, proper storage, dispensing and disposal. Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability. Compound and dispense medications as prescribed by providers, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, or oversee these activities. Assess the identity, strength or purity of medications. Counsel patients regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, course of treatment and proper medication storage. Analyze prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions. Report and document medication errors and/or interventions per LHC policy. Provide specialized services to help patients manage conditions, such as diabetes, asthma, smoking cessation, or high blood pressure. Collaborate with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, or evaluate the quality or effectiveness of drugs or drug regimens, providing advice on drug applications or characteristics. Disseminate educational information for other pharmacists, doctors, or patients. Offer health promotion or prevention activities, such as training people to use blood pressure devices or diabetes monitors. Manage day-to-day pharmacy operations, selection, supervision and development of staff; perform administrative duties, establish and monitor department budget. Model, enforce, and provide direction and guidance to staff on proper customer service approaches and techniques to ensure patient needs, complaints, and issues are successfully resolved within established guidelines and standards. Ensure overall safety and compliance with company and legal policies, procedures, and regulations. Provide resolution to complaints by patients, health care professionals, administration & employees. Lead the development of strategic initiatives for Pharmacy Department. Design, implement and evaluate systems, processes, and methods designed to enhance quality, improve service, enhance efficiency and enhance cost effectiveness. Participate in quality assurance/performance improvement projects of healthcare delivery system. Perform monthly inspections of assigned drug storage areas. Inspect bulk pre-packed medications before storage. Ensure proper equipment usage and maintenance. Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records, registries of poisons, narcotics, or controlled drugs. Assist with the development and processing of billing for pharmacy drugs and supplies. Teach and guide pharmacy students serving as interns in preparation for their graduation or licensure. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Five (5) years of experience as a Pharmacist with one (1) year of supervisory/management experience. Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (DPh/PharmD) recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education or the US Department of Education. 1. Current, active, full and unrestricted license as a Registered Pharmacist from any US state or the District of Columbia. 2. Current, active, full and unrestricted license as a Pharmacist Clinician from any US state or the District of Columbia preferred. 3. Current DEA License (not listed on DEA Excluded Parties List). 4. Immunization Certification through an accredited organization (i.e. APhA) preferred. 5. Current BLS certification. #J-18808-Ljbffr
