About the Role Reporting to theDirector of Policy and Advocacy, theCoordinator,Policy and Advocacy, MAwill play a key role in supporting Latinos for Education’scomprehensive statewideadvocacy effortsin Massachusettsand policy goals throughrelationship and coalition building with key state, district, and nonprofit leaders,organizing activities,communication support, logistical coordination andevent planning, and research. Responsibilities Organizing Implement an organizing planfor MA coalition members,alumni, fellows, and partners in Massachusetts and the New England region. Support campaign strategies for L4E legislative policy and budgetarypriorities. Help organize and coordinate quick and effective responses tounexpected policychallenges. Support the engagement oflocal, state, and federal elected officials as necessary regarding L4E’s legislative priorities, including organizing meetings with members of the state administration. Logistics Assistwith,participatein,andfacilitatethe coordination of policy development and prep for legislator meetings. Coordinateand attendmeetings with key stakeholders such as executive, legislative, municipal, business, and community leaders. Track and executefollowup itemsfrom meetings. Manage keyinformation systems for engagement and tracking purposes, includingmaintainingrelationship data in Salesforce. Communications Draftinternal andexternally-facingwritten content, such as policy memos, social media messages, or emails directed towardvarious audiences, such asL4E’s leadership team, policy makers,coalition partners, andkey advocacy stakeholders. Draft, edit, and translate key advocacy and strategic documentsand presentationsto support advocacy and organizing efforts. Research Research,summarize, and track legislation and other key topicsrelevantto the organization’s policy goals. Assistwith the tracking and attending ofhigh-priorityadvocacy events,such as legislative committee hearings, board meetings, coalition meetings, etc. General Supportorganizationalspecial projects and initiatives assigned byor approved by theDirector of Policy & Advocacy, providing research, coordination, and execution support as needed. Maintain organized systems for files, records, meeting materials, and operational documentation. Providestrategic andlogistical support for team meetings,stakeholder events,and organizational events. Travel: This role willrequiretravelwithin Massachusettsfor events, meetings, and conveningsapproximately twiceper month, and will also berequiredto attend at least one all-organizationevent per year (locationTBD). Skills Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects, track milestones, andproactivelysurface risks. Proficiencyin Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Zoom. Intermediateproficiencywith generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude), including the ability toresponsiblyapply AIto real workflow challenges and document generation tasks. Preferred: Experience Some experience working with Massachusetts legislature preferred. Relationships with key education nonprofits in Massachusetts, including members of theEducator Diversity Act Coalition. Relationships with local and statewide policy makers. Eventmanagement experience preferred. Skills Proficiencyin Monday.com or equivalent project management software. Experience with Salesforce or equivalent CRM platform preferred. Compensation Latinos for Educationofferscompetitive industry rate salary bands toretainand grow talented individuals.The organizationconductsa robust internal and external benchmarking process to ensure thatitssalaries are competitive. The salary range for this role iscommensuratewith experience and is as follows: Compensation Band: $52,700 - $71,300 Mid-Point:$62,000 Thecompensation bandmid-pointrepresentsthe market rate for this position in the Northeast region.Acandidate that fully meets the qualifications and experiencerequiredfor the rolecangenerallyexpect to be atthe mid-point.An offer made to a candidate that is above the mid-point wouldrepresentsomeone who is extraordinarily qualified.
