Details Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting handling 100-200 births per month Patient ratios of 1:2 for Labor, 1:3 for Antepartum, and 1:3 for Mother/Baby Care areas include Antepartum, High Risk Antepartum, Labor & Delivery, LDRP, and Mother/Baby Epic charting system required 3x12-hour Day shifts scheduled from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM Requirements Active TX or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience required Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN Beginner, AWHONN Intermediate, and AWHONN Advanced Prior travel nursing experience required Epic charting experience required Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred Previous charge nurse experience preferred Skilled in labor management, fetal monitoring (external and internal), IUPC placement/calibration, and high-risk delivery assistance Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips Competency in postpartum and newborn care including newborn assessment, phototherapy, and discharge teaching Additional Information Responsibilities include assisting with vaginal and C-section deliveries, circulating and scrubbing for C-sections, and recovering post-C-section patients Provides antepartum care including NSTs, OCTs, and sterile vaginal exams Delivers newborn care such as APGAR scoring, cord care, and metabolic screening Supports postpartum recovery including fundus/lochia checks, breastfeeding support, and wound care First-time travelers are not accepted for this position Travel pairs or groups are not accepted Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted as locals Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties are not eligible Former staff must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation American Traveler Job ID P-747968.
