Location: Longview / Woodland, WA Area
Compensation: $30–$45/hour DOE; flexibility for highly qualified candidates

CV Resources is partnering with a well-established Pacific Northwest construction organization to identify an experienced Mechanical Construction Buyer to support commercial and industrial projects.

This position is ideal for a purchasing professional with extensive knowledge of mechanical construction materials, piping systems, and procurement processes. Our client is seeking someone who can confidently evaluate material specifications, manage supplier relationships, and make technically sound purchasing decisions.

This is a technical purchasing position requiring direct experience with mechanical construction materials, not a general procurement role.

• Source and purchase piping, valves, fittings, flanges, gaskets, supports, hangers, fasteners, and related mechanical construction materials.

• Review project drawings, bills of material, takeoffs, submittals, and specifications to ensure accurate purchasing.

• Evaluate material requirements including pipe schedules, pressure ratings, grades, coatings, connections, and joining methods.

• Identify appropriate materials and recognize when proposed substitutions do not meet project requirements.

• Prepare RFQs, evaluate supplier quotations, issue purchase orders, and negotiate pricing and delivery terms.

• Coordinate material availability, logistics, and delivery schedules with project managers, fabrication teams, and field operations.

• Manage long-lead materials, supplier relationships, inventory needs, and purchasing discrepancies.

• Support procurement process improvements, cost management, and supplier performance.

• 5+ years of purchasing or materials management experience , including direct procurement of mechanical construction commodities.

• Experience supporting commercial mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, process piping, or industrial construction projects.

• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, material takeoffs, and bills of material.

• Experience working directly with mechanical suppliers, distributors, manufacturers, and fabrication teams.

• Strong negotiation, supplier management, organizational, and communication skills.

• Experience using ERP, purchasing, or construction management systems.

• Background with a mechanical contractor, commercial HVAC contractor, plumbing contractor, or industrial construction company.

• Experience with project cost codes, job costing, inventory management, and material tracking.

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Construction Management, Business, or a related field; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.

• Competitive hourly compensation of $30–$45, with flexibility for senior-level talent.
