Standex Aerospace & Defense (A&D) segment manufactures large customized near-net-shaped metal-formed components such as fuel domes, lip skins, and other aerospace components. Our unique spin forming process is the most efficient forming process for these parts, while we also have a complementary deep draw forming process for parts with varying shapes and contours. These parts are difficult to manufacture due to their size and tight specifications. With facilities in the US and UK, our segment is positioned to serve customers in the space, aviation, and defense markets in the North American and European regions. Our deep knowledge of the forming process, combined with our multiple decades of experience, has positioned us as a critical manufacturing partner.Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, the Plant Controller will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain internal controls, and contribute to operational efficiency and cost management. This role is critical in supporting business decisions through detailed financial analysis and reporting.Daily ResponsibilitiesOversee the accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsExecute month-end closing activitiesEnsure full compliance with GAAP/IFRS, company policies, and all regulatory requirementsEstablish and maintain strong accounting processes and internal controls, with emphasis on revenue recognition and inventory costingLead and manage all internal and external audit activities, serving as the primary site contactLead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, with full ownership of P&L, CAPEX, and net working capital for the business unitPartner with manufacturing leadership to develop and execute financial plans aligned with operational objectivesMonitor financial performance, analyze variances, and deliver actionable insights to drive resultsProactively identify risks and opportunities, implementing corrective actions to ensure financial targets are achievedDevelop, maintain, and enhance standard costing systemsAnalyze manufacturing costs, variances, and profitability drivers, providing clear recommendations for improvementCollaborate closely with operations to support production planning, material cost management, and cost-to-complete analysisBuild and refine financial tools and dashboards to deliver timely, actionable insights to plant leadershipProvide detailed analysis of product cost standards versus actual performance, identifying root causes and improvement opportunitiesOversee inventory valuation and cycle count programsEnsure accurate accounting for raw materials, WIP, and finished goodsPartner with site leadership to develop capital expenditure proposals supported by robust financial analysis and ROI justificationTrack and evaluate actual performance against capital investment projections, recommending actions to improve outcomesIdentify and implement process improvements and best practices to enhance financial and operational efficiencyOversee cash flow planningPrepare and deliver financial reporting, budgets, and analysis to Senior Director of FinanceEnsure accuracy and timeliness of shared services activities, including reconciliations and risk identificationMaintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment in accordance with safety and quality standardsParticipate in meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiativesLead or support special projects and other duties as assignedTeam ResponsibilitiesSupport and enhance financial systems and reporting tools, including ERP platforms (e.g., Epicor)Partner with IT to improve the accuracy and efficiency of revenue recognition and financial data processesEnsure alignment with corporate IT and continuous improvement initiatives to standardize processes across divisionsCollaborate with operations, materials, and production teams to support strategic and operational goalsPartner with other business unit Controllers to drive alignment and share best practicesServe as a business partner and change agent, leveraging financial insights to improve business performance beyond accountingWhat You'll BringBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field requiredCPA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred, but not required5+ years of progressive financial experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing settingStrong knowledge of EPR systems (Epicor preferred), and financial reporting toolsExtensive experience in cost accounting in a job cost environment that records revenue under a percentage of completion revenue recognition model is essentialExperience across the full complement of accounting duties including but not limited to budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and inventory managementExcellent analytical and financial modeling skillsAble to create and improve complex spreadsheets to analyze historical trends and make business recommendations and improve business performanceReliable transportationStrong interpersonal and problem-solving skillsDemonstrates high level of Emotional Intelligence when dealing with all levels of the company, clients, and vendorsExceptional written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn other softwareAbility to build and maintain strong working relationshipsAbility to effectively manage time, multi-task, and pay close attention to detailsSelf-motivated professional with the ability to work independently and as part of a teamRegularly required to move, sit, and bend for various hours throughout the dayEqual Opportunity Employer.
