Heavy Equipment Operator/ Laborer

Finley Buttes Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is looking to hire a full-time, year-round Heavy Equipment Operator/ Laborer at our facility in Boardman, OR. The starting rate of pay is $26.65/HR. The schedule is: Monday Friday, 5:00 AM 3:30 PM of 7am-Closing (mandatory every-other Saturday shifts).

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs routine inspection and maintenance on equipment such as checking oil, water, and tires.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Helps with flagging on site to ensure traffic is flowing.
• Helps drivers tarp trucks.
• Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Works well with the public.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

• Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
• Safely directing traffic by flagging in the transfer station.
• Helps CDL drivers with tarping open containers.
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment such as front end loader, fork lift, and other heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
