Registered Nurse Resource Float Pool

Methodist Hospital, part of SA Health, is a leading healthcare provider in San Antonio, specializing in a wide range of medical services from emergency care to specialized surgery. We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our Resource Float Pool, a team of highly skilled clinicians who provide critical support across multiple inpatient units, including medical-surgical, telemetry, step-down, emergency, and specialty areas based on organizational needs and the nurse’s competencies. As a Registered Nurse in the Resource Float Pool, you will deliver safe, evidence-based, patient- and family-centered care to a diverse patient population. You will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, administer medications and treatments, monitor patient responses, and collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize outcomes. You will be expected to rapidly adapt to different clinical environments, workflows, and patient acuity levels while maintaining the highest standards of clinical quality and patient safety. In this role, you will utilize strong critical-thinking and prioritization skills to manage multiple patients, respond to changes in condition, and initiate appropriate interventions. You will provide clear, compassionate communication to patients and families, supporting education, discharge planning, and the coordination of care across the continuum. Accurate and timely electronic documentation, adherence to hospital policies and regulatory requirements, and active participation in safety initiatives, infection prevention, and quality-improvement efforts are essential components of this position. The Resource Float Pool plays a vital role in supporting staffing needs across departments, including coverage for high census, vacations, and leaves of absence. You will work closely with nursing leaders to accept assignments based on your competencies and the needs of the organization, demonstrating flexibility, reliability, and professionalism. You may be required to float between day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts according to staffing demands, with appropriate orientation and support provided for each assigned unit.
