Controls Technician III

Roles & Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, instrumentation, and control systems
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on control equipment
- Calibrate and maintain field instruments (pressure, flow, temperature, level)
- Analyze system faults and implement corrective actions
- Support continuous improvement and automation projects
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and control schematics
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to minimize downtime
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA)
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance and system changes
Experience Required
- 5+ years of experience working with industrial control systems
- Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley), motor control systems, and VFD programming
- Experience with industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus)
- Experience in manufacturing environments (food & beverage, dairy, or processing plants) – preferred
Skills & Certifications
- PLC Programming: Rockwell Automation (Studio 5000/RSLogix 5000); Siemens – optional
- HMI/SCADA Platforms: Ignition SCADA, FactoryTalk View/SE/ME
- Industrial Networking: Ethernet/IP, Modbus (RTU/TCP), Profibus, Profinet; troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, RSLinx)
- CMMS platforms (FIIX or similar)
- Data/diagnostics: Ignition Tag Historian, trend/report tools, process analysis
- Calibration software and handheld communicators (HART, Field Communicator)
- Process control loops and PID tuning – preferred
- Problem-solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail
- Strong communication, teamwork, and time management
Eligibilities & qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, or related field – nice to have (equivalent work experience considered in lieu of degree)
- Familiarity with LOTO and arc flash safety practices – nice to have (training provided)
- Ability to work in an industrial/manufacturing setting with exposure to machinery, electrical systems, and varying temperatures
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
