Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) supporting students and educators in the greater San Antonio, TX area. In this contract role, your expertise will foster independence and enrichment for learners with visual impairments, helping create inclusive and empowered educational experiences.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or eligibility in Texas
- Experience delivering direct instructional services to students with visual impairments
- Proficiency in conducting Functional Vision Evaluations (FVE), Learning Media Assessments (LMA), and Orientation & Mobility (O&M) assessments
- Strong collaboration skills for consulting with teachers and multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to preparing accessible instructional materials and supporting individualized learning needs
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct (instructional) and indirect (consultative) services to visually impaired students in educational settings
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, including FVE, LMA, and O&M, to inform tailored education plans
- Actively participate in ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings and collaborate on IEP development
- Provide ongoing consultation for staff on best practices, adaptive equipment, and instructional strategies
- Prepare and adapt educational materials to ensure accessibility for all students
- Maintain detailed records of services, progress, and communications as required
