The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine (PCCSM) at UTMB is a leader in delivering advanced respiratory, critical care, and sleep medicine services. With 14 faculty and 12 fellows, the Division combines clinical care, research, and education to serve patients across UTMB’s four hospital campuses — Galveston, League City, Clear Lake, and Angleton-Danbury Campus. It provides comprehensive care for a broad spectrum of pulmonary and critical care and sleep conditions, including obstructive and restrictive lung diseases, pulmonary vascular disease, lung cancer, and complex respiratory failure. Faculty members lead UTMB’s intensive care units, ambulatory pulmonary and sleep medicine, delivering around-the-clock critical care and advancing evidence-based practices through multidisciplinary collaboration. Position Summary UTMB is seeking a full-time physician at the rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice within the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a growing academic and clinical sleep medicine program committed to excellence in patient care, teaching, and research. For candidates with dual interests, the position can be customized to incorporate critical care and/or pulmonary medicine responsibilities. Essential Responsibilities Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient sleep medicine services, including diagnostic evaluations, management of sleep disorders, and oversight of Inspire and PAP therapy. Interpret sleep studies (polysomnograms, home sleep tests, MSLTs/MWTs). Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including pulmonology, neurology, psychiatry, and ENT. Participate in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows. Engage in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives, if desired. Optional opportunities to: Participate in critical care (ICU) coverage. Practice pulmonary medicine (if board certified/eligible). Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellows in both clinical and procedural pulmonary and critical care settings. Contribute to curriculum development, clinical skills training, and sleep medicine focused academic programs. Minimum Qualifications MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school. Board certified or board eligible in Sleep Medicine. Eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas. Preferred Qualifications Additional board certification in Pulmonary, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, or Pediatrics Experience in an academic medical center or teaching environment. Demonstrated involvement in scholarly activity, clinical research, quality improvement projects, or curriculum development in sleep medicine. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
