Mechanical Engineer

The main function of a mechanical engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes. A typical mechanical engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings, and read and interpret blueprints. Executing key project tasks to support the component design engineer. Key point of contact for print work (detailing & releasing) and CAD design work. Supporting new component design with APQP collaboration work with external suppliers. Helping to ensure customer success by correcting product problems.

Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability. Team player and detail oriented. Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports. Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD). Print work, component modeling, APQP, TFC, tolerance stack-up, deviation investigation, parts inspection, etc. Basic understanding of gas and/or diesel engine operation. Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint proficiency. Creo / Teamcenter knowledge.

Strong data analysis skills. Strong communication skills (ability to work with a global team). Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work well independently / collaborative member of a cross functional team. Large gas and/or diesel troubleshooting skills. Understanding of client engine product configuration. CLIENT 6 Sigma training. Proficiency working with computers and computer systems. Software programs used frequently include, but not limited to: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, Creo, Team Center.

Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices. Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects. Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew. Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment or software. Exposure to leadership from a continuous product improvement perspective with an ability to impact the team in an extremely positive way with a strong customer focus. Leading team meetings as necessary, updating project plans and status reports. Providing daily updates on activities to design engineers & team leads. Supporting role within team to design engineer on Valvetrain components.
