divh2RN Subsidiary - Urology/h2pThe RN Subsidiary will perform direct patient care activities such as lab tests, treatments, and medication administration. These are performed under the direction of the physician in preparation for the patients examination and treatment. RN will utilize nursing process to assess patients condition and direct to the appropriate level of care using internal and external resources. Carry out clerical activities. Quality control activities, performance improvement initiatives, etc. in order to support the physician and practice as assigned./ppEssential Job Functions/pulliDeliver direct and indirect patient care in accordance with the RN Practice Act, hospital, and/or physician practice policies, procedures, protocols and other professional standards of care./liliCollect patient health care data, including VS, weight, chief complaint and pain assessment focusing on the physical, psychosocial, age, cultural and spiritual needs for the patient./liliComplete initial assessment of the patients health history, learning needs and barriers, physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs and reassess annually./liliInvolve the patient/family and other healthcare professionals when appropriate./liliComplete patient care treatments/testing as ordered by the physician./liliAdminister medications/immunizations using appropriate routes and techniques specific to age of the patient./liliComply with completeness, accuracy and timeliness of documentation./liliProvide education and instruction, within their scope of practice, to patients and families./liliAssess the patients readiness to learn, educational needs and educational barriers./liliProvide educational material and/or instruction based on assessed needs./liliDocument all education/instruction provided including topic, individual provided to and understanding./liliMaintain collaborative relationship with physicians to achieve desired patient outcomes./liliPrepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures./liliAssist the physician with treatments and procedures as requested./liliProvide for patient safety in compliance with hospital and physician practice policies./liliUtilize two forms of patient identification before implementing any form of patient care./liliLabel all patient specimens with identifiers per policy./liliUse patient identifiers on all written documentation, including notes and point of care testing results./liliAssist in compliance with all regulatory agency requirements./liliAdhere to infection control process, including standard precautions, to reduce the risk of acquiring or transmitting infections./liliParticipate in non-punitive medication reporting./liliDemonstrate leadership by utilizing the concepts inherent to the practice of professional nursing./liliDemonstrate an ability to solve problems independently and seek assistance from immediate supervisor when appropriate./liliMaintain accountability for actions taken./liliDelegate patient care appropriately./liliEffectively function as a resource person./liliAct as a patient advocate./liliPerform effectively in the role of preceptor/mentor to new hires and/or students./liliAssist in maintaining/decreasing organizational/departmental costs./liliCoordinate communication between patients/families and physician practice, pharmacies, specialists and insurance carriers./liliProvide advise based on protocols and physician instructions and direct patients to the appropriate level of care./liliFacilitate patients access to prescription refills based on physician order./liliObtain prior authorizations and/or assist with indigent programs per physician order based on the patients financial status or insurance coverage./liliSupport performance improvement initiatives within the physician practice./liliAssist in data collection as directed by the manager/physician./liliIncorporate into practice performance improvement initiatives that have been implemented./liliMaintain the environment of care./liliEnsure that supplies in patient care areas are replenished daily./liliConsistently maintains a clean safe environment./liliFollow policies pertaining to daily/weekly/monthly quality control for refrigerator temperature, and equipment controls./liliPerform POC testing as ordered by the physician./liliComplete all quality control testing per policy and manufacturing guidelines./liliUse two patient identifiers, name and DOB, prior to testing./liliFollow appropriate procedures when collecting patient specimens./liliAccurately record patient test results on appropriate result form and testing log./liliIdentify results that are out of acceptable range and follow up prior to performing patient testing./liliPrepare forms, copy records and respond to requests per policies and procedures./liliAssist in maintaining the patients record to facilitate filing and retrieval of information./liliParticipate in staff education./liliPerform other duties as assigned./li/ulpRequired Qualifications/pulliGraduate of an accredited Nursing Program required./li/ululliStrong leadership ability, independent thinking and decision-making ability; analytical problem-solving skills, sound judgment; excellent oral and written communication skills, must be able to function in a team environment./li/ulpPreferred Qualifications/pulliBachelors Degree in Nursing preferred./liliPrevious experience in an outpatient office setting./li/ulpLicense, Certification Clearances/pulliCurrent licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania required./liliCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program required./liliAct 33 with renewal/liliAct 34 with renewal/liliAct 73 Clearances/li/ulpSupervisory Responsibilities/pulliThis position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but may serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department./li/ulpPosition Type/Expected Hours of Work/pulliIncumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.)./liliTravel may be expected locally between Excela Health locations./li/ulpLean/pulliActively promotes a Lean work culture by performing team member duties to encourage consistent use of LEAN principles and processes, including continually seeking work process improvements.
