Part-Time Programming Assistant

Centro Latino of Shelbyville is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and organized Part-

Time Programming Assistant to support our community programs and daily operations.

The ideal candidate is bilingual (English/Spanish), enjoys working with people, and is committed to helping individuals and families in our community.

This is a hands-on position that combines administrative responsibilities, community engagement, and physical participation in our weekly food pantry operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing community programs and events.
• Support daily operations and assist with client services as needed.
• Assist with weekly food pantry operations, including receiving deliveries, unloading, sorting, stocking shelves, preparing food packages, and distributing groceries to families.
• Help maintain accurate program records, participation data, and reports.
• Communicate with clients, volunteers, and community partners.
• Assist the Executive Director with administrative tasks and special projects.
• Help ensure a welcoming, respectful, and confidential environment for everyone we serve.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish, with strong communication skills.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and data entry.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Dependable, adaptable, and able to work independently.
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
• Familiarity with the local community and nonprofit services is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds, with assistance or equipment when appropriate.
• Willingness to participate in the physical demands of weekly food pantry operations, including unloading deliveries, stocking shelves, and distributing groceries.
• Ability to perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Schedule:

• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
• Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Minimum 30-minute unpaid lunch daily
• Occasional community events as scheduled
