Machinist GeneralMachine production parts and rework out of spec supplier parts to print dimensions using appropriate machining equipment, tools, and processes. Depending on experience, may also build fixtures for assembly and prototypes for engineering.Essential Functions & Responsibilities:Read basic dimensional drawings and understand tolerancesComfortable with arithmetic, fractions, decimals, and metric/imperial conversionSet up and operate conventional machines (mills, lathes, grinders, drills)Load, verify, and run existing CNC programs; make approved offset adjustmentsComplete assigned machine training and take on new machines or processes as skills developPerform routine machine maintenance and minor repairsPerform in-process inspection with calipers, micrometers, and gaugesFlag nonconforming parts immediately and follow quality hold proceduresKeep the work area clean and compliant with 5S and lockout/tagout standardsSupport on-time delivery by communicating delays earlySuggest process and safety improvementsBe safety-aware and follow all safety, PPE, and machine-guarding rulesTake ownership of work and acknowledge if a mistake is madeWorks proactively and constructively with others, including across departments and shiftsCan explain how a mechanism or process works, showing mechanical reasoningShow evidence of ability to learn new things quicklyOther duties as assignedIndividuals who need reasonable accommodations to enable them to perform these essential functions should discuss their needs with Human Resources. EMS will provide reasonable accommodations to such individuals unless doing so would impose an undue hardship on EMS or the individual is a direct threat.Supervisory Responsibilities: The position does not have supervisory responsibilityQualifications:Prior machining or manufacturing experience preferredExposure to CNC operation, programming, setup, or trainingTrade certification, technical school, or apprenticeshipHigh School diploma or equivalent; and minimum of 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceComputer Skills: Will be required to interact with manufacturing software throughout the day for the job schedule and work order executionLanguage & Communications Ability: For business and safety reasons, ability to write reports and business correspondence in EnglishEffectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional resources (Production Supervisors, Quality, Engineering, etc.)Other Skills: Ability to use all variety of hand and machine toolsPhysical Demands: While performing the functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop and kneel; use hands, reach with hands and arms; communicate clearly and effectively. The employee may also be frequently required to lift up to 30 pounds.Work Environment: The noise level in the work and shop environment is moderate to loud. While performing the duties of this position the employee may occasionally be required to work near fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee may also be required to work near moving mechanical parts. The work for this position will be performed onsite, Monday through Friday, in our Phoenix, Arizona office.The annualized salary for this role is $52,167 – $69,930.
