Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is currently seeking highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineers to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG) at our offices in Pittsburgh, PA. The Hatch PDG provides you with an opportunity to be a leader of an integrated engineering team which provides engineering services for projects within the USA Region and across the globe. Working closely with the engineers and designers within the group, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will drive and lead teams working on challenging projects. This position will allow the candidate to apply his or her knowledge in areas such as mechanical design, stress analysis and hydraulic system design to provide direction and mentorship to projects and young professionals within the group. The candidate will promote and drive the Hatch Digital Project Delivery program, which includes intelligent 3D modeling, data centric multi-discipline engineering, and integrated delivery models. Hatch also offers exposure to the latest calculation and analysis tools to support engineering completion. Oversight of project work by the Senior Mechanical Engineer is critical to this role and is ideally provided by someone with a professional engineering license. We manage our clients' entire project lifecycle from studies to building assets, operating the assets, and developing efficiencies. Join our team and become part of a community that strives for positive change–providing the best solutions for our clients' toughest challenges!As a successful candidate, you will:Ensure that all work designed or supplied by the mechanical engineering discipline complies with the relevant sections of mandatory health and safety standards, including any regulations or codes referred to within the required jurisdiction for the Project with due consideration of relevant client engineering standardsDevelop a thorough understanding of the project requirements as they relate to scope, execution strategy, cost and schedule with the Engineering ManagerPrepare a list of engineering deliverables and time-based functions to facilitate the planning and control of the engineering budgetSupport site field visits to obtain information and data to support projectsLead equipment identification and selection activities, including sizing, layout, technical specifications, and vendor information reviewsLead piping system design activities, such as hydraulic analysis, piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) development, material specification development, stress analysis, and layoutDevelop the work plan for insertion into the Project specific execution plan and develop and maintain the Project's scope of work documentation and revise as required during the design evolutionManage and review the engineering work packages associated with all deliverables and time-based functions to ensure that budgets and schedules are being met, and take corrective action if necessaryReview and approve technical deliverablesAssist in the preparation and development of project specific proceduresManage system requirements to achieve the Project results and monitor effectivenessRepresent the Mechanical/Piping practice in project engineering co-ordination meetingsEnsure coordination, between the Mechanical/Piping team and other disciplines of all activities being performed as the design evolvesEnsure that quality audits of engineering work are carried out in accordance with Project procedures and the quality assurance plan and maintain technical documentationParticipate in HAZOP reviewsEnsure resolution of engineering issues during Project lifecycle, including planning phase, design, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioningPromote and maintain the application of ethical and professional practices in the execution of engineering workAdhere to and promote the Hatch corporate safety cultureYou bring to the role:Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited universityProfessional Engineer license preferredMinimum 15 years engineering experienceAbility to manage and motivate individuals to attain quality, cost and schedule objectivesStrong deliverable focus, ability to plan your workA high degree of understanding of inter-discipline dependencies related to the disciplineGood understanding of procurement, contracting and commissioning methodologiesSound knowledge of codes and standards applicable to the ProjectWell-developed communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skillsSite experience in a technical role is preferredWhy join us?
