Title: JOB COACH

General Statement of Function:

The Job Coach provides direct support, training, and guidance to individuals with disabilities in various employment and vocational settings. This role involves assessing individual strengths and challenges, delivering personalized coaching, and promoting skill development to support successful employment outcomes. The Job Coach collaborates with work contracts, IP employers, case managers, and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate accommodations, maintain compliance with service plans, and foster inclusive work environments. Responsibilities also include accurate documentation, safety monitoring, and modeling appropriate workplace behavior to help individuals achieve independence and long-term job retention.

Essential Functions:

• Provide direct job coaching, individualized support and vocational training to individuals with disabilities in either or both SE Group or one-on-one settings.

• Deliver social and vocational skills training using evidence-based instructional strategies to promote independence, workplace readiness, and effective interpersonal communication

• Apply diverse communication methods, including verbal instruction, body language, and demonstrations, to ensure clear understanding and effective skill acquisition.

• Facilitate effective integration and engagement at worksites and in community environments through skill-building and guided support.

• Apply strong customer service skills when engaging with individuals and Employers, ensuring positive professional interactions.

• Work collaboratively with Case Managers to provide ongoing feedback and progress updates and implement IHSP strategies through daily activities that support individuals in consistently working toward their goals.

• Advocate for individuals by identifying needs and recommending appropriate reasonable accommodations to support workplace success.

• Support successful employment outcomes by addressing and improving barriers such as workplace behavior, personal hygiene, attendance, and productivity.

• Encourage self-advocacy by empowering individuals to express their needs and connecting them with appropriate resources and support services.

Additional Essential Functions of Floater Job Coaches:

• Support individuals in Tailored Day Services (TDS), providing cross-program support including job and internship exploration, tutoring, transportation training, pre-employment preparation, and individualized guidance to promote progress toward personal and vocational goals.

• Adapt quickly to changing assignments, schedules, and participant needs while maintaining high-quality service delivery.

• Deliver one-on-one support to individuals in various settings, including worksites, community locations, and program environments.

• Act as a floater to provide coverage for individual and group services, ensuring seamless service delivery, participant engagement, and adherence to program expectations across all assigned settings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate and complete documentation, including case notes, daily activity records, goal tracking, emergency drills, skills training, and progress reports.

• Model appropriate workplace behavior, techniques, and a strong work ethic to promote successful job performance.

• Oversee worksite safety and quality, applying strategies from safety meetings to prevent near-misses and minimize risk of injury while maintaining industry standards.

• Adhere to the proper care and responsible use of Oparc issued property, tools, and equipment.

• When applicable, transport individuals to and from worksites or community settings while strictly adhering to Oparc vehicle safety protocols, traffic laws, and best safety practices.

• Provide attentive supervision to individuals across group work sites and community settings, ensuring safety and alignment with individual goals and program standards.

• Accurately records mileage and submits reimbursement documentation in a timely manner for each pay period, ensuring all entries are completed and submitted by payday Friday in accordance with organizational policy.

• Follow established protocols for behavioral interventions and report any health, safety, or abuse concerns immediately in accordance with legal mandates and Oparc policy.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to independently lift up to 25 lbs. and assist with team lifts up to 150 lbs., including supporting individuals with wheelchair mobility.

• Physically able to walk and stand for up to 100% of the workday; sit for up to 80%, bend and push/pull for up to 70%, squat up to 25%, and perform repetitive motions up to 80% of the day.

• Must be able to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments, including warehouse, industrial, retail, and community settings, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, temperature fluctuations, noise levels, dust, and concrete flooring, and may not have consistent access to heating or air conditioning.

• Must be able to properly handle and use a variety of chemicals for cleaning and use according to the manufacturer’s labeled instructions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; A.A. degree and one year of experience in developmental disabilities preferred but not required. Experience in vocational training or teaching is helpful.

• Maintains professional appearance by dressing appropriately for assigned work sites and in accordance with Oparc’s dress code policy.

• Demonstrates competency in behavior modification techniques, record keeping, confidentiality, math for documentation, written and verbal communication, and problem-solving.

• CPR, First Aid, and Crisis Intervention (e.g., CPI) certifications required; training may be provided for candidates who do not currently hold certification.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams; ability to learn Oparc's internal documentation systems.

• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality standards.

• Flexible availability, including potential weekend and evening hours.

• Must be at least 21 years of age with 2 years driving experience and possess a valid California driver’s license, maintain a clean driving record, and provide proof of current vehicle insurance and registration.

• Must have access to safe, reliable transportation that meets all required vehicle safety inspections and standards.

• Able to transport program participants in a personal vehicle is required.
