Job Overview

This is a full-time role with a day shift schedule, consisting of two 12-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts. Weekend duties will be required every third weekend.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients to determine the appropriate type and frequency of respiratory treatments, creating a tailored care plan based on their diagnosis.
• Deliver respiratory care services following specific physician orders, departmental policies, and established guidelines.
• Implement and oversee the patient care plan and associated equipment, while continuously monitoring, documenting, and communicating the patient's condition.
• Administer advanced respiratory care techniques and evaluate the effectiveness of treatments and medications based on patient outcomes.
• Provide education to patients and their families regarding health conditions and available community support resources.
• Assist in the care, calibration, and maintenance of all respiratory equipment, ensuring departmental inventory levels are maintained.
• Respond to medical emergencies and rapid response situations.
• Maintain a vigilant and safe working environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: An Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent experience and education.
• Experience: No prior experience is necessary.

Physical Demands

• Regularly communicate verbally to share information.
• Frequent standing and walking are required.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing between 0-50 lbs.
• Regularly engage in sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks.
• Visual acuity is necessary for tasks requiring near and far sight, as well as color differentiation.
• Utilize smell for detecting odors and hearing for receiving oral communication and identifying alarms.
• Occasional patient handling and driving may be required.
• Rarely, crawling and running may be necessary.

Licenses and Certifications

Depending on the state of work location, the following certifications are required:

• Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Respiratory Care Practitioner certification as required by the respective state regulatory body.
