As a Housekeeping Laundry Aide at Merit House Rehab, you will be responsible for ensuring the sanitation and cleanliness of healthcare facilities by handling laundry services and performing janitorial duties with precision and care. Your efforts directly contribute to infection prevention, patient safety, and overall facility hygiene. Responsibilities

• Operate laundry equipment to wash, dry, fold, and distribute linens, uniforms, and patient clothing according to safety protocols and sanitation standards.
• Perform cleaning tasks across healthcare facilities, including dusting, mopping, disinfecting surfaces, and waste removal to uphold strict sanitation guidelines.
• Handle chemical agents safely during cleaning processes, adhering to OSHA regulations and environmental services best practices.
• Use proper manual handling techniques for heavy lifting of linens, supplies, and cleaning equipment to prevent injury.
• Maintain cleanliness of floors through proper floor care procedures using appropriate cleaning equipment and techniques.
• Follow infection prevention protocols by sanitizing high-touch areas regularly and ensuring all cleaning supplies are used correctly.
• Document laundry cycles and cleaning activities accurately while adhering to safety protocols at all times.
• Support team efforts by collaborating with healthcare staff to meet sanitation needs efficiently and courteously.

Requirements

• Prior janitorial or custodial experience in healthcare facilities or similar environments is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards related to chemical handling, manual handling, and safety protocol adherence is essential.
• Experience with healthcare infection prevention and control practices will be advantageous.
• Familiarity with cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, extractors, and laundry machines is desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely while following safe lifting practices is required.
• Previous experience working in hospital or healthcare settings will help ensure a smooth integration into our team’s environment of safety and excellence.
