Job Description & Requirements Specialty: OR - Operating Room Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/14/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours Employment Type: Travel Job Details Position: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) Employment Type: Travel Nursing Assignment Location: Springfield, Illinois Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 3 shifts per week Weekly Hours: 36 Duration: 13 weeks Start Date: 9/14/2026 Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,200 - $2,320 Charting System: Cerner Setting: Acute care hospital, Level I trauma environment Orientation: 40 hours Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend per month Call: 1 shift per week as needed Travel Requirement: Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility Job Requirements Active Registered Nurse license in Illinois, or license in process at time of submission Minimum 2.5 years of operating room nurse experience required Previous Level I trauma experience required General OR and trauma surgery experience required BLS required; CNOR preferred Travel nurse experience required Strong experience with a broad range of surgical cases preferred Ability to work with all service lines except cardiovascular Ability to support occasional floating within scope as needed Must be able to complete compliance requirements and pre-start onboarding on time Responsibilities Provide safe, efficient perioperative nursing care in a busy operating room setting Assist with a variety of surgical cases, including general surgery, trauma, neurology, orthopedics, plastics, transplant, urology, and emergency response cases Support patient safety through universal protocol, infection control, specimen handling, and radiation safety practices Prepare equipment and instrumentation for procedures, including electrosurgical units, fiber optic systems, and specialty tables Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team to maintain smooth case flow Respond appropriately to emergent situations, including code response and malignant hyperthermia precautions Maintain accurate documentation and follow established clinical standards throughout the shift Contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment focused on excellent patient outcomes Location Highlights Springfield, Illinois offers the convenience of a well-connected Midwestern city with an easygoing pace, local attractions, and access to everyday essentials.
