Tax Manager

Position Overview The Tax Manager will lead and oversee the firm's tax function, ensuring high-quality, accurate, and timely delivery of tax services. This individual will manage workflow, review tax returns, mentor staff, and help develop scalable processes to support continued growth. The role offers significant visibility and the opportunity to influence the future direction of the tax practice. Key Responsibilities Lead, develop, mentor, and retain a high-performing tax team. Review individual, business, and trust tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Manage tax workflow, production schedules, and capacity planning to ensure timely delivery of client work. Oversee quality control and continuously improve tax preparation and review processes. Recruit, onboard, train, and develop staff members. Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and production metrics while reporting on team performance and capacity. Collaborate with firm leadership on strategic initiatives, process improvements, and client service enhancements. Stay current on federal and California tax laws and ensure proper implementation across the practice. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and client experience. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. Active CPA license. 5+ years of public accounting tax experience. Extensive experience with: Individual tax returns (Form 1040) Corporate tax returns (Forms 1120 and 1120-S) Partnership tax returns (Form 1065) Trust returns (Form 1041) Previous experience managing and developing teams within a public accounting environment. Strong California tax knowledge. Proven ability to manage a tax preparation and review cycle while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines. Excellent tax research, analytical, and communication skills.
