JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Human Resources Coordinator Department: Human Resources Reports to: Administrator FLSA Status: Exempt Summary To assist the Director of Human Resources in complying with standards of business conduct in accordance with federal, state and local health and regulatory standards and guidelines, as applicable. This position requires ability to work well with peers, in a congenial work environment, and above all, maintain the utmost compassion and dignity to the residents and adhere to the Resident Bill of Rights. Environment Work will be performed primarily indoors at a long-term healthcare facility, throughout all areas, including in resident rooms, and on carpeted and/or tiled floors. Work will also be performed routinely around other co-workers, healthcare staff, residents, and guests. Due to the nature of facility’s business, worker may be exposed to occasional slippery floors, object on floors, chemicals, sharp objects, hazardous materials and waste (including human), blood borne pathogens, and communicable diseases, as well as high-stress medical and/or life‑throwing situations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assists with benefits administration for health, dental, vision, and 401K; Reports FMLA cases to Director of Human Resources; Provides support and guidance to management regarding reasonable accommodations, investigation of allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations; Assist department heads in resolving employee conflicts quickly and calmly; Assure all personnel files, department records and reports are being maintained in a confidential manner; Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, best practices to maintain compliance; Maintains knowledge of regulatory changes to maintain compliance; Provide oversight for unemployment hearings, workers compensation hearings and other meetings as needed; Participates in Safety Meetings for OSHA compliance; Promote job safety; Responsible for assisting clinical team with Workers Compensation compliance and reporting of work injuries; Knowledge of state and federal laws; Resolve and advise management team how to appropriately handle employee relations issues; Respond to employee inquiries and concerns in a timely fashion; Report non‑compliance regarding payroll and/or HR issues to the Director of Human Resources; Lead, Recruitment, Employee Engagement, Employee Retention; On‑boarding, orientation, and employment verification of new employees; Knowledgeable of laws, regulations and guidelines governing personnel administration; Knowledge of local labor market conditions; Knowledge of current wages/salaries; Knowledge of the requirements of each position; Ability to work independently, problem solves and makes decisions as necessary; Possess the ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public; Report any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and or hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy; Report work related injuries and illnesses immediately to your supervisor; As a condition of employment, complete all assigned training and skills competency; Participate in all life safety and emergency drills and trainings; Fulfill responsibilities as assigned during implementation or activation of the facility’s emergency plan; Assists with evacuation of residents in an emergency situation; Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information, including verbal, written and electronic communications; Report non‑compliance with policies, procedures, regulations or breaches in confidentiality to appropriate personnel; Protect residents from abuse, and cooperate with all investigations; Report any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents to supervisor and/or administrator; Report any retaliation or discrimination to the Human Resource Director and the Compliance Officer; Fulfill individual responsibility to report any suspicion of a crime to law enforcement and the state agency; Performs other duties as requested. Job Requirements High school diploma or GED required or equivalent related work experience. Six (6) months to one (2) years experience or related experience performing activity related duties. Ability to assume leadership role in the Human Resource Department in the absence of the Human Resource Director. Effective verbal and written English communication skills. Excellent creative and communication skills. Outstanding interpersonal skills with high level of energy and enthusiasm. Ability to communicate at all levels of organization and work well within a team environment in support of company objectives. Customer service oriented with the ability to work well under pressure. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize, coordinate and simultaneously maintain multiple projects with high level of quality and productivity. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision, take initiative and make independent decisions. Ability to deal with new tasks without the benefit of written procedures. Approachable, flexible and adaptable to change. Function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with employees and vendors. Must be able to read, write, and speak and understand English language. Physical and Sensory Requirements Moderate physical activity: Requires handling of average‑weight objects up to twenty‑five pounds. Sitting for more than two hours at a time.
