Job Summary and Qualifications

The Laboratory Phlebotomist performs collections of blood samples and specimens efficiently and appropriately following hospital and department standards and policies. Under the supervision of a Medical Technologist, the Phlebotomist may also performs routine technical functions, CLIA waived analyses and quality control. Schedule: 10 hr shifts. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday (4-10s)

What you will do in this role:

• Greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.
• Draw blood specimens from patients by using finger sticks, heel sticks or venipuncture and collect other specimens as required.
• Label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer.
• Prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments.
• Assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.

What qualifications will you need:

• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Graduate of Phlebotomy Course required.
• Additional 6 months experience preferred.
• If phlebotomy program has not been completed, to be considered, one-year of experience in a medical laboratory is required or college course work in biological/chemical sciences.
• Six months computer keyboarding or equivalent preferred.
