Staff Mechanical Engineer, Physics, DeepMind

Build multi-domain physics models from scratch to predict behavior in novel mechanisms, focusing on electromagnetics, contact mechanics (tribology/wear), kinematics, and soft-material interactions.Construct bespoke modeling scripts (Python, MATLAB) and utilize advanced simulation software (COMSOL, FEMM) to explore parameter spaces where standard off-the-shelf modeling tools are insufficient.Utilize, develop, and evolve agentic tools and AI-driven methodologies to accelerate physics modeling, automate complex parameter exploration, and pioneer next-generation hardware development.Perform detailed calculations and dynamic simulations for actuators, magnetic array topologies, bearing surface selection, and transmission efficiency.Partner closely with Controls, Firmware, and Electrical engineers to ensure subsystem models seamlessly integrate into the broader robotic architecture. Minimum qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.6 years of experience in computational physics.3 years of experience in technical leadership.Preferred qualifications:PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.We are looking for an exceptional Mechanical Engineer specializing in Physics Modeling and Simulation to join our robotics team.
