LOGISTICS MANAGER

Location: Stanley, VAFleet Size: 15 Drivers (Dedicated Operation)OverviewPTG Logistics is seeking a hands-on On-Site Transportation Manager to lead day-to-day operations for a dedicated fleet of 15 drivers in Stanley VA. This role combines driver management, load planning, customer service, and backhaul development to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation operations.The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can develop drivers, maintain customer relationships, and actively build revenue-generating backhauls using broker boards and market relationships.Key ResponsibilitiesDriver Leadership & RetentionDevelop and maintain a high-performing driver team through daily engagement, coaching, and accountabilityEnsure driver satisfaction by managing mileage expectations, accurate payroll, and timely issue resolutionDocument performance, including coaching, attendance, service, and recognitionPlanning & DispatchMatch drivers with loads while managing schedules, special instructions, and service commitmentsMaximize fleet utilization through efficient routing and trip planningMaintain clear, consistent communication with drivers and customersBackhaul Development (Key Focus)Actively source and secure revenue-generating backhauls using broker boardsBuild relationships with brokers and suppliers in key marketsIdentify consistent lanes and opportunities to reduce deadhead and improve profitabilitySafety & ComplianceLead safety initiatives through coaching, communication, and accountabilityEnsure compliance with DOT Hours of Service and FMCSA regulationsConduct daily HOS audits, manage driver qualification files, and track CDL/medical certificationsOversee accident reporting and progressive discipline when necessaryCustomer Operations & CommunicationServe as the primary on-site contact for customer operationsBuild strong, transparent relationships with customer teamsProvide proactive updates on delays, service issues, and daily operational performanceLearn and integrate customer systems and processes to improve efficiencyEquipment & MaintenanceCoordinate preventive maintenance with Leasing Companies and monitor equipment conditionPerform regular inspections to ensure safety, cleanliness, and readinessReporting & AdministrationTrack and report key metrics including:Delays and service performanceBackhaul activityProcess payroll and HR documentation (raises, bonuses, PAFs, etc.)Utilize systems such as Motive, BOLT, Samba/CSA, Asurint, and TenstreetQualifications2+ years of experience in transportation, driver management, or load planningProven experience booking backhauls through broker boards strongly preferredStrong understanding of DOT, HOS, and FMCSA regulationsExcellent communication and leadership skillsAbility to operate independently in a fast-paced environmentClass A CDL (preferred but not required)What Success Looks LikeHigh driver retention and engagementStrong safety performance and complianceIncreased backhaul revenue and reduced deadheadConsistent on-time service for the customerWell-organized, efficient on-site operation #J-18808-Ljbffr Ptg-Logistics,-Llc
