Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Chandler, Arizona.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 10/12/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Oct 12, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level 1 trauma center, requiring 3 years of recent ICU experience with a background in neuro or CV care.Details\n \n Level 1 Trauma Center acute care setting\n Surgical ICU (Trauma Neuro Surgery) with 32 beds, and Medical ICU (Medical Cardiac + Overflow) with 36 + 12 beds\n Nurse:Patient ratios of 1:2 and 1:1\n Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week\n Uses Cerner EMR\n Common diagnoses include trauma, GSW, blunt trauma, MVAs, ex-lap, crani, specialty neuro-surgery cases, CVA, sepsis, ARDS, COVID, CABG, valves, TAVR, IABP, Impella, ECMO\n RNs required to titrate drips including propofol, fentanyl, versed, precedex, levophed, vasopressin, cardene, and insulin\n RNs interpret their own telemetry strips on GE monitors, no dedicated monitor techs\n 24/7 in-house hospitalist/intensivist and RT coverage\n Self-scheduling with manager oversight for unit needs\n Weekend requirement of 3 shifts per 4-week schedule (Fri-Sat nights or Sat-Sun days)\n Floating required to tele units at 1:3 or 1:4 ratio, and between sister ICUs as needed\n No standby/call requirement, though low census days possible up to 3 times per contract\n May have 1 holiday off during the assignment\n Requirements\n \n Active AZ or Compact RN license required\n BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required\n Minimum 3 years of recent ICU experience required, including at least 2 years in ICU setting\n Experience in neuro or CV care required\n Level 1 trauma or neuro experience preferred but not required\n Must pass UNA Dysrhythmia exam 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (maximum 2 attempts)\n Must pass a pass/fail Sim Lab on Day 1 of orientation\n BSN not required for this position\n Additional Information\n \n Provide critical care nursing across trauma, neuro, and cardiac ICU patient populations\n Skills validation performed for trauma, neuro, and specialty devices as needed\n Navy scrub color required\n Unit-specific orientation is 1-2 days\n Charge nurse does not take patients\n No dedicated nurse aides on the unit; support staff limited to sitters and health unit secretaries\n First-time travelers are welcome to apply provided experience requirements are met\n Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year\n Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-759149.
