AWS Cloud SME
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and configuring the AWS Landing Zone and core cloud infrastructure in the Canada Central (Toronto) region. This role will enable secure and scalable integration with Splunk Cloud Platform for Federated Search and ensure end-to-end implementation of networking, IAM, data services (S3, Glue), and security policies, aligned with enterprise governance and compliance standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services including VPC, Subnets, Routing, NAT, IGW, AWS Organizations, and Landing Zone design
- Experience with Amazon S3 (security, lifecycle, encryption) and AWS Glue (Data Catalog, Crawlers, ETL basics)
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, CIDR, subnetting, firewall rules, security groups, and NACLs
- Hands-on experience integrating AWS with Client Entra ID
- Prior work experience in banking, transportation, or regulated industries
- Experience working with Splunk Cloud Platform and understanding of Splunk Federated Search architecture
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with enterprise cloud governance models and policy enforcement (SCPs, IAM policies)
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design and implement AWS Landing Zone (single-region – Toronto) and configure AWS Organizations, OUs, and Service Control Policies (SCPs)
- Design and implement VPC architecture, ensuring secure connectivity between AWS and Splunk Cloud
- Integrate AWS IAM with Client Entra ID and enforce MFA and conditional access policies
- Design and configure Amazon S3 buckets and implement encryption (SSE-KMS) and lifecycle policies
- Configure AWS-side integration for Splunk Federated Search and validate federated queries across S3 datasets
- Implement encryption in transit and at rest, enable audit logging and monitoring, and ensure compliance with security standards
- Configure CloudWatch monitoring and alerting, and integrate AWS logs into Splunk for centralized observability
- Produce architecture and configuration documentation and conduct knowledge transfer sessions for teams
