Overview Veterinary Technician - Medical Oncology (Full-Time) Thrive Mansfield is a Thrive Pet Healthcare hospital offering emergency, oncology, and comprehensive veterinary services. We provide a continuum of care for pets’ primary, specialty, and acute needs and operate with a nationwide network of veterinary providers. About You As a Medical Oncology Veterinary Technician, you will provide comprehensive care throughout a pet’s journey. Your responsibilities include hands-on care for outpatient treatments, performing laboratory tests, surgery assistance, and support services such as admitting and discharging patients. A full-time schedule requires 30–40 hours per week, including a mix of day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. Experience & Skills Requirements Has a minimum of 2 years’ experience as an IM or Oncology veterinary technician (preferred) Experience in anesthesia and endoscopy Able to observe the behavior and condition of animals Comfortable with anesthetic patient monitoring of ASA I-III (preferred ASA I-V experience) Able to obtain blood pressure, interpret basic ECG, SpO2, and EtCO2 and integrate clinical signs with disease processes to assist doctors in early and appropriate intervention Collect laboratory samples (blood, urine, tissue) for testing Perform laboratory tests (e.g., urinalyses, blood counts) Administer medications and treatments prescribed by a veterinarian Collect and record patients’ case histories Excellent problem-solving abilities (judgment, logic, creativity, conflict resolution) Strong attention to detail Role Responsibilities Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients Assist with surgeries and procedures and maintain positive patient flow; communicate with clients about pet health concerns and Thrive Membership options, medications, and treatments Assist in maintaining comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems Obtain health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and maintain clean, sterile treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs Mentor and support fellow team members About The Hospital Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists Mansfield provides 24/7 emergency veterinary services with clinicians experienced in emergency procedures and surgery.
