CENTRAL DATA GOVERNANCE TEAM – MANAGER The successful candidate will join Bain Capital’s Central Data Governance Team as a Manager and report to the Credit & Special Situations Data Governance Team Lead. This role will be responsible for the design, implementation, adoption, and maintenance of a spectrum of data governance capabilities and solutions. These capabilities include but are not limited to data process redesign/modernization projects, data issue management, data quality management, data catalog management, data health KPI’s and metrics reporting, and visualization tool and AI-enablement. This role will work very closely with a variety of functions such as Investment and Trade Operations, Finance, Data Analytics & Reporting, Portfolio Management, Investor Relations and Information Technology. This is an exciting and impactful opportunity to lead and drive transformational changes for the Credit and Special Situations businesses.Key responsibilities are to:Analyze and drive efficiency around end-to-end workflowsMap out processes from data collection to end-user reporting with enhanced quality controlsPrioritize and oversee key IT projects that impact data and reporting, as well as drive effective project planning and executionPartner with key business stakeholders to design systems architecture and implement data strategies across systems landscape, including deal pipeline, accounting system, portfolio company monitoring system, valuation and revenue models, as well as data warehouse completeness and end user reporting consumptionEnsure appropriate data architecture, completeness, quality and transparency to enable automated reporting using visualization reporting tools (e.g. Power BI) and approved AI reporting toolsBe a change agent in reducing manual processes and developing consistent approaches to where mappings, calculations and data aggregations should be stored in the systemsPartner with key business stakeholders and use traditional SQL or machine learning to build reasonability tests and create alerts via a central data quality framework (e.g. Monte Carlo)Document key data terms, processes and protocols to create transparency and foster appropriate data use and process efficiency and governance via a central data catalog framework (e.g. Atlan)Act as a Data Management Office that identifies data and reporting challenges, track and root cause data issues, and design proper remediation controls, actions and process redesigns to avoid future occurrencesServes as a sounding board for key stakeholders across functionsDevelop and track progress of data and reporting health KPI’s / metrics Build scalable data and process solutions that integrate with both business-specific and firmwide reporting needsThe primary measures of success in this role are:Mitigation of data errors in reporting to investors and in internal portfolio analytics/models and management reportingData and process flow redesign and automationImproved data quality and transparencyEnablement of automated reporting via flexible visualization tools and approved AI toolsIntegration of AI tools into processes and using AI tools to gain tangible efficienciesKey elements to success in this role are:Leadership and ability to be a change agent; can-do attitudeIn-depth understanding of underlying data, systems and root cause analysisAbility to map out, document, and rationalize processesExperience / background specific to Private Credit and Equity with heavy exposure to data management and systems in either Finance, Operations or Data Governance capacityQUALIFICATIONSProven experience collaborating effectively with multiple stakeholders/internal customersStrong communication and relationship management skills across several key functionsStrong process discipline – ability to design new processes and improve existing onesSelf-starter with a deadline-driven mindsetA strong understanding of multiple asset classes – it is a plus to specifically have experience with fixed income, private equity, private credit, liquid credit and distressed assetsComfort with a data-intensive and demanding environmentExperience in Finance, Operations or standing up or maintaining a data governance program at a similar firm10+ years of experience in asset management or closely related fieldWhy Join UsAt Bain Capital, you’ll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies in a collaborative environment that values innovation and excellence. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based upon factors such as individual impact, team and firm performance.
