Senior Construction Inspector

Senior Construction InspectorBL Companies is seeking a qualified Senior Construction Inspector to join our growing Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) team. This position will support CTDOT highway and bridge projects, state-funded municipal improvements, and select private-sector assignments.The Senior Construction Inspector will be responsible for overseeing field inspection activities, ensuring compliance with contract documents, and serving as a key liaison between the client, contractor, and project team.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform and/or oversee daily inspection of construction activities to ensure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and applicable standardsMonitor contractor operations, including subcontractors and utility work, to ensure adherence to project requirements and schedulesPrepare detailed daily reports, including work activities, labor, equipment, and quantities in accordance with CTDOT recordkeeping proceduresVerify and document pay quantities and maintain accurate records for project documentation and payment purposesCoordinate with Project Engineers, Resident Engineers, clients, and third-party testing firmsObserve and document material deliveries, sampling, and testing to ensure compliance with specificationsIdentify and report non-conforming work and assist in resolution with the project teamEnsure compliance with safety standards and project-specific safety requirementsAttend project meetings and support communication between all project stakeholdersProvide guidance and mentorship to junior inspection staff, as applicableRequired QualificationsMinimum 4+ years of construction inspection experience on roadway, bridge, or utility infrastructure projectsStrong working knowledge of CTDOT specifications, procedures, and documentation requirementsAbility to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities in a field environmentStrong communication and organizational skillsValid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites dailyPreferred QualificationsBachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related fieldNICET Level III or higher in Transportation Construction Inspection (TCI)Certified Construction Manager (CCM)Preferred CertificationsACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade INETTCP Concrete InspectorNETTCP HMA Paving InspectorATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS)AMP BCI Level I Coating CertificationAWS Certified Welding InspectorBL Companies is 100% employee owned, giving us a competitive edge and a unique distinction from most other companies.
