Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 10/05/2026 Duration: 16 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, rotating Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team in the Acute Hematology Unit, specializing in the care of newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients. This is a 12-hour shift position, with both day and night rotations required. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a critical care setting. Key Responsibilities Monitor and assess patient conditions, implementing infection prevention protocols. Manage patient falls prevention strategies to ensure safety. Administer medications and blood products as per established protocols. Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and manage central and peripheral lines. Conduct telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias. Collaborate with Rapid Response Teams as needed. Provide feeding tube care and management. Qualifications Current and valid Registered Nurse license. Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU). Experience in managing patients with acute hematological conditions preferred. Certifications Required Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Preferred Certifications Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Additional Information Staffing ratios are aimed at 1:4, but may reach up to 1:5 depending on unit needs. Nurses will work variable weekends based on departmental requirements. Schedules are reviewed every four weeks, although changes cannot be guaranteed.
