Specimen Technician

Job TitlePay Range: $15.00hr - $20.00hrRequirement/Must HaveHigh School diploma or equivalent.Basic understanding of computers.Ability to enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.Ability to work in a biohazard environment while practicing safety habits.Availability for nightshift, weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required.Strong interpersonal skills to foster a positive environment.Flexibility and ability to adapt to change.ResponsibilitiesPerform general support functions within the specimen processing department including A-station, presort, and imaging.Handle pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory.Perform centrifugation and aliquoting of specimens.Ensure all functions are performed with accuracy and in a timely manner.Learn and understand specimen types related to ordered tests.Maintain compliance with regulations related to test ordering.Communicate effectively with all levels of staff.Adhere to core values, safety, and compliance policies and procedures.Keep work area neat and clean.Nice To HaveKnowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing.Medical background including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.Previous hospital laboratory experience.Previous experience in a production environment.SkillsData Entry.Alphanumeric Keyboarding.Computer Literacy.Specimen Processing.Centrifugation.Aliquoting.Laboratory Safety.Qualification And EducationHigh School Diploma or GED.Due to nature of job The candidate must have Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
