Responsibilities
- Draw quality blood samples from patients in various age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established procedures.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring correct labeling and proper handling to maintain specimen integrity.
- Verify patient demographic information and confirm tube labels in the presence of patients post-venipuncture.
- Create an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures clearly and professionally to patients.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to specimen collection and processing.
- Perform specimen collection and processing duties confidently, adhering to safety and confidentiality policies.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and professional environment at all times.
- Support process excellence and organizational goals through attention to detail and teamwork.
- Travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations, including patient service centers and in-office phlebotomy locations.
Required Skills
- Proven proficiency in phlebotomy techniques, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Ability to provide error-free work in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in keyboard/data entry with high accuracy.
Additional Skills & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
- 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections, required.
- Experience in a patient service center environment is preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver license, and a clean driving record if applicable.
- Training locations may vary based on availability and staffing needs.
