About the Position

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care / Telemetry – Wisconsin

Start Date: November 9, 2026

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required. 3:1 patient ratio. 36 hours of orientation provided.

Highlights:

• Work in both IMC Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units within a Magnet-designated academic Level I Trauma Center
• Care for specialty populations including Cystic Fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant patients
• 29-bed unit with both general care (1:4 ratio) and IMC (1:2 ratio) level patients requiring critical thinking and teamwork
• Epic charting system with comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Collaborative environment where nurses are integral members of the multidisciplinary team with a strong voice in patient care advocacy
• Previous travel nursing experience required; floating to other units as needed

Requirements:

• Active Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in specialty area
• BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
• Telemetry oncology, cardiac, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience required
• Ventilator and transplant experience required (strong proficiency mandatory)
• Academic Level I or II Trauma Center experience required
• Must pass telemetry competency exam prior to start (strict passing criteria: 100% identification of lethal rhythms, 80% overall score, maximum 3 attempts)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• Must reside more than 50 miles from facility

Key Clinical Skills:

• Cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Ventilated patient care, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway management
• Post-transplant care, including lung transplant patients
• Hemodynamic monitoring, arterial line management, and central line care
• BiPAP/CPAP management and high-flow nasal cannula
• Cardiac drip and insulin drip titration, heparin protocols
• Chest tube management, surgical drains, and wound care/wound vac
• Blood product administration and pre/post hemodialysis management
• Port access/management and PICC line care
• Management of acutely ill patients with multiple comorbidities and hemodynamic instability
