RN Position Job Notes:

Travel or Local Registered Nurse needed for ASAP start. A minimum of 2+ years of recent hospital bedside experience is required. Candidates must be able to start within 5 weeks. Opportunity for extension upon successful completion of the initial assignment. $750 referral bonus available.

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 4 total weekend shifts required per 4 weeks (every 3rd weekend)
• Holiday work based on unit coverage and permanent staff rotation
• 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Level 1 trauma experience required
• Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed)
• Pass/fail skills exam on day 1 of orientation required
• Day 1 pass/fail SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Additional training in lifts, restraints, and wound care
• Specializes in medical/surgical/telemetry patients with behavioral health component requiring additional safety monitoring
• Psychiatric experience preferred but not required
• Must float to ED psychiatric holds and possibly medical/surgical floors
• 2-shift floor-specific orientation provided
• Cerner EMR system
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Must have natural hair color with no facial piercings
• Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing
• Must have own vehicle for travel
• Navy scrubs and panic buttons required
• Must live within 50-mile radius with driver's license verification
• Work with confused patients, dementia, and low cognitive ability cases
• Average 4-day length of stay
• Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment

This healthcare facility operates a specialized 14-bed Visual Monitor Unit (VMU) that combines medical/surgical/telemetry care with behavioral health monitoring. The unit features advanced video monitoring by security personnel and is staffed with psychiatric physicians, behavioral health technicians, and SWAT RN support. The facility maintains Level 1 trauma center designation and provides 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy services, focusing on comprehensive care for patients with medical conditions and secondary psychiatric diagnoses.
