Electroplating Worker

Job Summary

Responsible for preparing metal or plastic parts and applying a protective or decorative metal coating using electroplating processes. This role involves operating plating tanks, mixing chemical solutions, monitoring electrical current, and ensuring parts meet quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• 
  

  Prepare parts for plating by cleaning, degreasing, sanding, rinsing, and masking surfaces



• 
  

  Load and unload parts onto racks, hooks, or barrels for plating



• 
  

  Operate electroplating equipment, tanks, pumps, and filtration systems



• 
  

  Mix and maintain plating solutions and chemical baths according to specifications



• 
  

  Monitor voltage, amperage, temperature, and time to ensure correct coating thickness



• 
  

  Inspect plated parts for defects such as burns, pitting, peeling, discoloration, or uneven coating



• 
  

  Perform post-plating rinsing, drying, polishing, and finishing as required



• 
  

  Maintain accurate production records, chemical logs, and quality check documentation



• 
  

  Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance



• 
  

  Follow safety procedures for handling hazardous chemicals and disposing of waste materials properly



• 
  

  Maintain a clean and organized work area following OSHA and company safety standards

Skills and Qualifications

• 
  

  Basic understanding of electroplating or chemical processing preferred



• 
  

  Ability to read work orders, production sheets, and safety instructions



• 
  

  Strong attention to detail and ability to spot defects



• 
  

  Ability to follow precise measurements and timing



• 
  

  Knowledge of safety practices when working with acids, metals, and electrical systems



• 
  

  Ability to lift and handle parts and racks (often 25–50 lbs)



• 
  

  Basic math skills for measuring solutions and tracking production
