Endoscopy Technician - Adult EndocopyThis position may be filled as Endoscopy Tech or Surgical Technologist 1, 2, or 3, depending on individual experience, education, and other qualifications. Special Benefits: Sign-on bonus up to $5,000 for qualified individualsThe Endoscopy Technician I is a professional who works under minimal supervision to prepare and maintain endoscopic equipment, assist physicians during procedures, and support the RN with patient care before, during, and after procedures.Essential Responsibilities:Set up procedure rooms with the necessary equipment.Perform safety checks to ensure all equipment is functioning properly.Assist physicians and nurses during procedures by handling the endoscope and other instruments.Manipulates instruments to aid in the efficiency of the endoscopist and avoid hazard to patient.Help position patients and ensure their comfort and safety during the procedure.Observe progress of procedure and provides additional instruments, supplies, or other items as needed.Transport equipment/instruments from procedure patient room to reprocessing room at the appropriate time and in the appropriate manner.Coordinate the flow of patients with other staff.Promote cost effective supply usage.Clean procedure room areas and disposes of soiled linen.Restock supplies as needed.General Responsibilities:Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Education: High School Diploma or GED required.Experience: No experience required.License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.GI Tech Certification of Completion issued by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) OR Associates Program Certification of Completion issued by the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) required within 12 months.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to write clearly and understand written and oral instructions.Ability to operate computer and other equipment required for the job.Basic knowledge of endoscopic procedures and ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot endoscopy equipment.Ability to follow all safety and infection control protocols.Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a fast-paced team.
