Job DescriptionThe Role:At General Motors, our Cybersecurity organization protects the company’s global operations through secure, scalable solutions that enable innovation. Within Security Enablement, we partner with application teams to integrate enterprise applications into GM’s security ecosystem with strong controls, streamlined onboarding, and automation.What You’ll Do:We are seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to lead security enablement and automation for enterprise application onboarding. This role will drive secure, scalable integration patterns across GM’s identity and access management ecosystem, with a strong focus on automation, standardization, and self-service with guardrails.The ideal candidate brings deep cybersecurity and IAM expertise, along with a development background and experience building tools or automation that improve operational efficiency and control consistency.Technical LeadershipLead secure application onboarding design and implementation across the enterpriseDefine and support authentication and authorization patterns including SAML, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID ConnectEstablish scalable standards for identity integration, access management, and application onboardingAutomation and Process ImprovementDesign and build automation to streamline onboarding, validation, configuration, and support processesDevelop reusable tools, scripts, APIs, and workflows to reduce manual effort and improve consistencyExpand self-service capabilities for application teams while maintaining security guardrailsSecurity EnablementPartner with application owners, developers, architects, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and guide secure onboardingAdvise teams on secure integration patterns and control requirementsDrive onboarding strategy aligned to cybersecurity, IAM, and enterprise architecture goalsSupport deployment and user adoption of enterprise security tools and systems across application teams and stakeholdersPartner with product, engineering, and security teams to improve security tools by identifying user pain points and providing feedback on features, usability, and integration needsRisk and ComplianceEnsure onboarded applications meet internal security standards, policies, and compliance requirementsConduct risk assessments and help implement appropriate controlsImprove onboarding quality through documentation, standardization, and continuous improvementCollaboration and MentorshipWork across Cybersecurity, IAM, infrastructure, and application teams to deliver secure outcomesMentor junior engineers and contribute to team technical direction and roadmap prioritiesYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field6+ years of experience in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or Identity and Access ManagementStrong experience with enterprise IAM integrations in a complex environmentHands-on experience with SAML, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and related authentication technologiesStrong development or automation background, including scripting or programming with Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, Java, or similarExperience with cloud identity platforms such as Microsoft Entra ID, AWS, GCP, or similarStrong understanding of access control, encryption, and secure application architectureDemonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives across cross-functional teamsWhat Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications):Master’s degree in a related fieldExperience in a lead engineering role within Cybersecurity, IAM, or Security EnablementExperience building automation using APIs, workflow platforms, infrastructure-as-code, or CI/CD toolingExperience improving onboarding through reusable patterns, standards, and engineering guardrailsRelevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CCSPDeep knowledge of IAM, federation, and secure application integrationStrong automation and software engineering mindsetAbility to balance security, scalability, and user experienceStrong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skillsAbility to influence across teams and manage multiple priorities#LI-SB3 GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
