Electrical Maintenance Technician

Role Overview The Technician, Electrical Maintenance provides electrical and mechanical support for the production department. The role is responsible for setup, installation, assembly, and repair of all equipment used in production, including electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and components. Duties & Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance Execute preventive maintenance on heat sealing machines, robotic equipment, case sealing automation, conveyors, pneumatic tools, and production machines. Utilize schematics, diagrams, operation manuals, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot and improve equipment uptime. Adhere to the preventive maintenance schedule and perform tasks during equipment downtime. Perform cleaning, adjustment, and calibration to maintain optimal performance. Verify equipment functionality before release to production. Prepare maintenance reports summarizing trends and findings. Update preventive maintenance schedules when unplanned failures occur. Equipment Repair Respond to repair requests and act swiftly to restore functionality. Diagnose failures by observing operation, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing instruments. Dismantle equipment with hand and power tools to remove defective parts. Replace necessary components and test equipment before handoff. Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) & Human Machine Interface (HMI) Design/Repair Program new equipment and maintain PLC systems used in manufacturing. Troubleshoot and repair electronic production robotic equipment. Collaborate on production efficiency projects to reduce costs. Assist with assembly of electrical components on new automation projects. Repair electrical problems on packaging equipment, motors, conveyors, ovens, robots, etc. Ensure operations run smoothly through proactive maintenance. Install & Diagnose Pneumatic Systems Install and repair cylinders, valves, vacuum systems, air filtration, and lubrication devices. Diagnose, replace, and control valves, sensors, motors, and actuators. Apply AC/DC troubleshooting techniques. Leverage experience with chain drives, belt drives, and lubrication systems. Maintain Spare Parts Inventory Maintain and document replacement parts and supplies inventory. Review operational manuals and internal files to recommend spare parts and quantities. Anticipate general electrical component needs for repairs and preventive maintenance. Research and source parts from manufacturers, catalogs, and the internet. Place purchase orders, confirm receipt, and verify correct parts. Log parts into inventory records. Experience & Qualifications Education Associate's Degree (or equivalent experience) in technical training, maintenance manufacturing, or military technical training. High School Diploma or G.E.D. acceptable. Experience Minimum 4 years in machine electrical maintenance within manufacturing, including electrical schematics, vision systems, and robots. Minimum 2 years experience with PLC and/or troubleshooting electrical equipment, controls design, layout, and wiring. Licenses & Certifications Electrical or mechanical degree or certificate preferred. Software/Technical Skills Advanced equipment maintenance skills. Advanced technical understanding of electrical and mechanical systems. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, project tracking). Basic ability to comprehend complex verbal and written technical instructions. Basic knowledge of power tools, soldering, calipers, micrometers. Advanced PLC/HMI programming skills. Other Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Strong communication (verbal, written, interpersonal). Flexibility to manage multiple tasks. Understanding of manufacturing safety principles. Additional Details for This Role This role is onsite and requires presence at the stated location five days a week. Base Salary Targeted hourly base salary: $26.00 – $33.00. Base salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Additional Compensation Not a bonus eligible role; the base pay is the sole cash compensation.
