Boston Scientific is seeking a highly motivated R&D software engineer to join our growing Interventional Cardiology R&D team. In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of medical device software for innovative products that sustain and improve the lives of patients around the world.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will apply your technical expertise and collaboration skills, along with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement, to help advance product development and deliver high-quality software solutions.

Work model, sponsorship, relocation:

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This is an on-site role based at our Maple Grove (Arbor Lakes), Minnesota, office. Boston Scientific will not offer sponsorship or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position at this time. Relocation assistance is not available for this position at this time.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Design, implement, test and support medical device software for Windows applications.
• Document software development activities in accordance with approved procedures and standards.
• Create and maintain software development records using approved tracking and management tools.
• Analyze, evaluate and verify software and system requirements using software engineering best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement of processes, workflows and development methodologies through collaboration with peers and cross-functional teams.
• Support team members and project activities to help meet project goals and timelines.
• Mentor junior engineers in hardware and software engineering activities, methodologies and domain knowledge.
• Participate in reviews of software design and development activities.

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or a related field with a minimum of 6 years' relevant work experience; master's degree with a minimum of 4 years' relevant work experience; or doctoral degree with a minimum of 2 years' relevant work experience.
• Background in software development within the medical device industry (may consider other heavily regulated industries).
• Proficiency in developing Windows-based software using Microsoft development tools.
• Expert-level programming skills in C# and C++.
• Demonstrated ability to develop software effectively within Agile methodologies.
• Ability to collaborate effectively on projects involving cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred qualifications:

• Familiarity with the Atlassian toolchain or similar software development and collaboration tools.
• Knowledge of Windows debugging and memory management tools.
• Understanding of code optimization techniques.
• Background in developing software to enhance Windows security.
• Programming skills in Python and/or MATLAB.
• Knowledge of image processing algorithm development using classical and machine learning techniques.
• Software development involving interfaces with custom hardware.
• Familiarity with automation frameworks for building and testing software.

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
