Sr. UnderwriterUnder general supervision, this role involves underwriting intermediate level group insurance applications within established guidelines for issuing policies on a standard or substandard basis. The role includes the authority to approve cases up to 3,000 lives.Profile DescriptionEvaluate risk for group insurance products by analyzing data such as financial condition, characteristics of employee groups, participation percentage, type of industry, and past claim experience to determine benefits and rates.Ensure proper pricing and appropriate funding methods. Coordinate underwriting activities on proposals, new cases, renewals, and amendments.Ensure that the company can administer the proposed benefit plan design and funding method.Develop and maintain relationships with field personnel by answering general questions and obtaining information on which to base decisions.Explain and defend underwriting courses of action. Document and communicate decisions to necessary areas in the division.Review cases exceeding underwriter's review level.Contribute to total division profitability by analyzing and assessing client profitability through experience and expense analysis and attention to product line performance.Other duties as assigned.Skills/Knowledge/AbilitiesBachelor's degree or equivalent2-4 years underwriting experienceStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsPC skills including word processing and spreadsheet applicationsExcellent written and oral communication skillsUnderwrite Medical Stop Loss business across all group sizes and deductibles.Join us in Minneapolis, a vibrant city known for its cultural diversity and economic opportunities.
