Choir Director

The Choir Director plays a vital role in shaping the worship experience by incorporating choral music that enhances spiritual engagement. This position follows a 9-month schedule, leading rehearsals, performances, and fostering a collaborative choir community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performance Schedule Planning Provide Musical Direction Collaboration with other artists/musicians Administrative Tasks Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere within the choir, encouraging teamwork, camaraderie, and a shared passion for music. Identify and develop musical performances that will enhance the worship experience. Identify, encourage, and integrate members' musical gifts into worship, special events, and faith formation activities. Work in collaboration with all staff. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities): Bachelor’s degree in music education, choral conducting or a similar field, preferred 3-5 years prior experience conducting choirs, preferred A broad understanding of choral repertoire across different genres, styles and historical periods, preferred Be knowledgeable of the Lutheran confessions and understand the church’s heritage as a whole and also be familiar with and supportive of all worship and faith styles, preferred Have a working knowledge of choral rehearsal techniques and conducting and the ability to work effectively with volunteer choir members, preferred Have a passion for music and choral performance, required Must possess a positive attitude, demonstrate energy and enthusiasm, and be self‑motivated to perform the job effectively, required Professional organization affiliations, e.g. American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), preferred Understands and will comply with copyright laws, required Has experience with coordinating choir performances with an audio/visual technology team, preferred Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or equivalent applications, preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr Holy Cross Lutheran Church
