Job Description
PHARMACIST CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY
Location: Woodrow Wilson Keeble Memorial Health Care Center - Indian Health Service
Address: 100 Lake Traverse Drive, Sisseton, SD 57262
Contract Dates: September 1, 2025 - February 28, 2026 (with nine optional 6-month extensions)
Submission Deadline: August 14, 2025
Open Positions: Two (2) Pharmacists

Candidate Requirements

Licensure and Education:

Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico

Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution

Experience and Certifications:

Minimum of 2 years of pharmacist experience within the past 3 years

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Recent TB/PPD test

Immunizations: Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, and Influenza

Skills:

Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR)

Strong communication and patient counseling skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse healthcare team

Work Schedule

Typical Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM

Weekend Shifts: 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM (5-hour shifts)

Total Hours: 40 hours per week

Flexibility required for holidays and occasional overtime based on patient care needs

Shifts are assigned by the Pharmacy Supervisor and may vary depending on facility operations

Position Responsibilities

Review and verify medication orders in the EHR system

Provide patient counseling and document all interactions accurately

Ensure medication accuracy and appropriateness

Monitor for potential drug interactions and adherence to the formulary

Participate in the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model

Comply with Indian Health Service (IHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and facility-specific regulations

Uphold professionalism, cultural awareness, and patient confidentiality at all times

May provide sole pharmacy coverage when permanent staff are unavailable
