Job Description The Ohio Department of Agriculture is currently seeking candidates for a Dairy Plant Environmental Health Specialist 1 position in the Dairy Division, headquartered in Fairfield, Perry, Muskingum, or Licking County. The duties for the Dairy Plant Environmental Health Specialist 1 position include but are not limited to: Asprovided for in Chapter 917of theOhioRevised Code andrules adoptedthere under, conducts inspections of dairy facilities, dairy facilityrecords and dairy facilityreports Conducts examinations for issuance ofweigher,sampler, ortester licenses Collects and transportssamples for laboratory analysis Initiates appropriate enforcement action(e.g.,warning letter, license suspension and licenserevocation) Explainsdairyrules, laws, and program policies to dairy industry Conducts fieldreviews ofdairy equipment,devices and systems Investigates complaints and offerssolutions Reviews plans for new or alteredmilking systems, dairy equipment andfacilities Performs miscellaneous administrative duties as assigned: prepares inspection reports and interoffice correspondence Assists inconducting specialstudies Attendsstaffmeetings Gives speeches and presentationsto industrygroups and other service and/or professionalorganizations Collects data and informationfor consideration by Sanitarian ProgramAdministrator that may result inrule changes and/or interpretation Collects evidence and testifies inadministrativehearings and courttrials This position shall be filled in accordance with the provisions of the OCSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Qualifications Must acquire registration as an environmental health specialist in training or environmental health specialist prior to engaging in practice of environmental health, but not later than 90 days from date of employment. Candidates will be required to provide a college transcript for proof of eligibility for Environmental Health Specialist-In-Training and/or Registered Environmental Health Specialist. In addition to proceeding, must have below: Completion of undergraduate core program in agriculture from an accredited college or university, with specialization in dairy science, animal science or food science OR 24 months training or 24 months experience in management of dairy production or dairy processing operations AND must be able to provide own transportation Note: Pursuant to Ohio Administrative Code Rule 4736-8-01(C): Science courses approved by the board shall be in biology, chemistry, physics, geology, mathematics, or statistics and be applicable to the practice of environmental health science. Supplemental Information Training And Development Required toRemain in The Classification After Employment: Must possess registration to practice as an environmental health specialist issued by the Ohio Department of Health, in accordance with Chapter 3776 of Revised Code, within 3 years from date of appointment to class. License for registered Environmental Health Specialist must be renewed biennially in accordance with Chapter 3776.07 (B) of Revised Code.
