Registered Nurse

Located in the heart of World Golf Village, Westminster St. Augustine, a Life Care Retirement Community, is currently accepting applications for the position of part-time Registered Nurse (RN) to work 3pm-11pm in our Health Center. As a part of the Nursing Team, this individual will provide direct nursing care to residents as well as supervise day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants and staff nurses in accordance with state and federal standards. For part-time status we offer: 403(b) Retirement Plan and Profit Sharing Plan PTO Hours (hours can be sold in 20 hour increments as long as 80 hours remain afterwards) Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - free counseling for employees and their families Tuition Reimbursement Program (after 1 year of service) Resident Christmas Fund for team members Resident Scholarship Program to assist in furthering education (after 3 months) Foundation Mercy Fund Free Flu Shots and Hepatitis B vaccinations Discounted Meals Tickets at Work – discount pricing on travel and entertainment options ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Role / Responsibility Charge RN Daily Duties: Manage all admissions and discharges that occur on the day shift Meet with each Med nurse to review day case load and special responsibilities Review all new admissions from previous day to ensure admission check list is completed Complete order entry Complete or verify completion of daily skilled documentation for all Med A residents that were assigned for day team Notify MD/NP with issues as appropriate Review labs and x-rays and ensure all have been addressed Complete all skin inspections and Braden inspections according to schedule Emergency support: Assist nurses in printing emergency records, calling for transport completing SBAR, Support other nurses in utilizing med dispense when necessary Incidents and Accidents: Complete documentation for all Incidents including witness statements: Initial incident documentation, Progress not describing care provided, Update care plan with new prevention intervention suggestion Manage Pharmacy deliveries and troubleshoot any problems with medication availability or order. Attend morning meeting to review all new admissions. Attend Base Line Care plan meetings with residents/families. Other Duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing Weekends/Holidays add the following: Staffing: 1.) Managing evening shift call offs (weekends and holidays): verify that all day staff arrive and they are aware of their assignments, review upcoming evening shift staffing and manage any problems using the staffing book. 2.) ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Education: Must hold a current Registered Nurse license in the State of Florida and must be CPR Certified. Experience and Basic Knowledge : One year of long-term care is desirable. Med-surg, Home Health, Emergency Room experience helpful. In addition, experience working with the handicapped or developmentally disabled adults. Physical and Environmental Requirements. The physical activities of this position involve: Fingering, lifting up to 40 lbs., standing, grasping, pushing, stooping, kneeling, reaching Sensory and communicative activities with or without prosthetics of this position are: Feeling, smelling, hearing, speaking, seeing, tasting An individual in this position will be exposed to: Inside environmental conditions, blood borne pathogens, physical hazards using equipment, respiratory hazards Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of this position.
