Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Neuro ICU License: Pending License accepted Certifications: NIHSS, ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Neuro ICU experience required Description: The role involves managing patients in a Neuro Intensive Care Unit. The average patient ratio is 1:2 during the day and 1:2 at night. First-time travelers are accepted for this position. Weekend shifts are required every other week. The candidate must be proficient in key neurocritical care skills. Experience with charting systems is necessary, with specific emphasis on Epic. Skills in acute kidney injury, ventilated patient care, and central line management are essential. Candidates should have experience in managing complex neuro cases including traumatic brain injury and post-neurosurgery care. Additional skills include procedural sedation administration and monitoring, as well as neuro assessment and monitoring such as ICP and Arterial Blood Gas interpretation. This position will involve interdisciplinary collaboration with other healthcare professionals. Physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy support are part of the unit’s resources. The unit provides care for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of neuro-specific diagnoses. Special procedures such as EVD placements and lumbar drains are conducted within the unit. Candidates must be willing to float within the scope of the unit to meet facility needs. Pre-approved time off is not applicable. The candidate is expected to adhere to unit policies, providing high-quality patient care as part of a dedicated healthcare team.
