Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Gastroenterology (Carbon/Miners) Full Time

The Advanced Practitioner (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) provides healthcare services to patients under the supervision of or in collaboration with attending physicians. Responsibilities include medical evaluation, treatment, counseling, referrals, diagnostic evaluations, therapeutic remediation, surgical assistance, and pharmaceutical prescription. Responsibilities Competent in assessment, treatment, counseling, and education of patients and families. Perform physical examinations, obtain and update medical histories. Determine abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests and interpreting results. Develop and implement patient management and treatment plans based on assessment of needs. Coordinate and communicate patient care effectively with other healthcare professionals and institutions. Provide high‑quality health care based on best practice and evidence‑based medicine. Perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures with granted clinical privileges. Conduct virtual care services via the St. Luke’s virtual care platform, including live interactive assessments, diagnoses, and treatment. Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education, workshops, and professional societies. Track and implement clinical management guidelines. Teach multidisciplinary students and residents, ensuring a positive learning environment. Guide AP student clinical rotation preceptorship when assigned. Demonstrate performance improvement in clinical care, customer service, operations, and safety. Use electronic medical record systems, maintain accurate documentation for billing. Exercise financial responsibility and accountability in using resources efficiently. Perform routine health maintenance for new and established patients. Coordinate patient care and family counseling with public and mental health agencies. Educate patients on wellness habits and prevention of health problems. Provide occupational health services in urgent‑care settings, including pre‑employment physicals, injury care, and workers’ compensation follow‑ups. Physical and Sensory Requirements Sit up to 8 hours per day; 3 hours at a time. Stand up to 8 hours per day; 8 hours at a time. Walk up to 6 hours per day. Frequently lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 pounds; rarely up to 75 pounds. Frequently stoop and bend; frequently reach above shoulder level. Frequent handling, firm grasping, twisting, and turning procedures. Must perceive attributes through touch, hear normal conversation, and see general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision. Must speak normal conversation and project voice for lectures and presentations. Education and Certification Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner or Medical Physician Assistant with current license to practice in Pennsylvania or New Jersey. Physician Assistants must also hold current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
