Unit Type: Ortho Trauma Specialty Medsurge

Number of Beds: 36

Staffing Information

• Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 8 RNs, 3 CNAs
• Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 8 RNs, 3 CNAs

Patient Care

Patient Ratios: 1:5, with potential flex to 6

• Common Diagnoses:
  • Polytrauma Patients
  • Non-surgical Cervical Fractures
  • Ortho and Trauma with Downgraded Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
  • Patients with up to 3 Drains
  • Burn Downgrades
• Typical Procedures:
  • Heparin and Protonix Drips

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Must Have:
  • 1 Year of Med-Surge Experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Preferred:
  • Experience with Orthopedic and/or Trauma Patients

Unit Policies

Staff are expected to be on unit by 0645 for the morning huddle and 1845 for the evening huddle, adhering to hospital policy regarding tardiness.

Commitment

All staff members are required to commit to working 4 weekends per month.
