Job Description: This position is responsible for cleaning and general maintenance services throughout the campus. This position shall provide a safe, clean environment for visitors, faculty, staff, and students. This position will assist with snow removal and landscaping duties and may also perform delivery/receiving operations on campus and assist the mail room as necessary. This position shall assist in the safety, security, maintenance, and operations of Rochester Community and Technical College to ensure the College operates in a clean, safe and secure environment.

Principal Responsibilities And Results

1. Priority: Essential

Clean offices, corridors, classrooms, study rooms, practice rooms, teacher and staff lounges, conference rooms, hallways, stairways, elevators, entrances, auditoriums, tunnel areas, laboratories, bathrooms, other rooms and general facilities so that the assigned work area is maintained in a sanitary and safe condition on a daily basis. Perform deep cleaning duties as necessary or assigned. Perform minor repairs to equipment, furniture and facilities so ensure equipment is kept in a safe, clean condition and an overall safe environment is maintained.

Percent of Time 60%

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Dust mopping and/or vacuuming daily to maintain a clean environment Appropriate wet mopping, stripping, waxing and buffing of floors Disinfecting restrooms, fixtures, and floors on a daily basis. Maintaining sufficient bathroom supplies and ensuring bathrooms are stocked and maintained. Removing trash daily and cleaning chalk/whiteboards daily Areas will be thoroughly cleaned on a regular schedule throughout the year. College facilities will be clean, safe, and efficient. All work orders will be logged daily and completed in a timely manner. All necessary lights in the work area will be functional daily and replaced when necessary. Maintaining and upkeep of equipment assigned to the work area.

2.Priority: Essential

Assist with moving furniture, setting up for campus events and delivering supplies so that furniture, on-campus events, community events, concerts, commencements, and other campus activities are efficiently set-up and delivered in a timely manner.

Percent of Time: 20%

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): All equipment and furniture will be handled in an efficient and safe manner. All events or tasks are completed in an efficient and timely manner. Set-up of classrooms and other areas will be performed in accordance with the work order request.

3.Priority: Essential

Assist with landscaping duties, snow removal, and field maintenance to ensure that the College's grounds are kept safe and aesthetically appealing. Assist with minor construction duties such as painting, drywall repair, carpet installation, hanging fixtures, and assisting the General Repair Workers so that repair work is done in an efficient, safe and professional manner. Assist security personnel with safety and security of assigned areas and all other campus areas as required.

Percent of Time: 15%

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Snow is removed promptly and safely from the assigned work area General landscape duties are performed safely and efficiently Painting and minor repair assignments are completed safely and efficiently in accordance with work order College property is safeguarded and assigned work areas are secured when incumbent finishes work.

4.Priority: Secondary

Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Operations are maintained at high standards works in harmony with co-workers and shows concern in their actions

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge of:

• Different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents and equipment.
• Chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely.
• Methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs.

Ability to:

• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction.
• Keep adequate records.

Physical health and endurance sufficient to perform work functions:

• Ability to perform work functions using ladders, scaffolding, etc.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. regularly and 30-50 lbs. on occasion (with assistance as available).
• Capable of frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling and repetitive activities such as standing, walking, lifting, bending, reaching, carrying, pushing and pulling.

Preferred Qualification:

• Ability to use hand tools
• Good human relations' skills, work habits, and self-motivation
• Valid Driver's License

Location: Rochester Campus

Work Shift (Hours / Days of work): Monday-Friday 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
