The Electroencephalographic (EEG) technician is responsible to the Manager of sleep lab and the interpreting Neurologist. The EEG technician performs adult/pediatric standard and ambulatory Electroencephalograms (EEGs). This person will be responsible for the performance of EEGs in a competent and efficient manner. They will ensure accurate patient assessments, patient education and quality data acquisition. The individual will be responsible for maintenance of all lab equipment, infection control, patient safety, and an effective quality assurance program. Thorough documentation, creation of concise preliminary reports, accurate billing and processing of interpreted study reports will also be done by this individual.

Responsibilities include maintaining current professional credentials, performing routine and ambulatory EEG studies, conducting patient assessments, monitoring patients' physical and psychological status, explaining testing procedures, applying electrodes, maintaining patient confidentiality, accurately documenting patient information, preparing technical reports, processing finalized physician reports, performing maintenance of EEG equipment, adhering to infection prevention and control standards, participating in quality assurance activities, maintaining CPR certification, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications include a high school/GED graduate, an associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with an emphasis on physical or biological sciences, R. EEG T credential certification by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET), current CPR certification, valid Oregon Driver's License, and proof of current auto insurance. Experience in EEG Lab is preferred.

Physical requirements include sufficient auditory ability, clear and effective communication, visual acuity, tactile perception, motor coordination, and the ability to lift and reposition objects or patients.

Working conditions involve exposure to infectious and contagious diseases, hazardous materials, and medical equipment, with the expectation that all staff follow appropriate safety protocols and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. The role involves responding quickly to changing circumstances, including high-pressure or emergency situations, and working in a fast-paced and unpredictable healthcare environment.
