About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Family Birthing Center (Labor and Delivery, Postpartum & Obstetrics) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience required License: Valid Nursing License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN-Advanced; STABLE preferred Must-Have: - Ability to float to maternal/baby unit and circulate C-sections - Experience with high-risk unit and couplet care - Comfortable performing all aspects of Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) Description: This is a high-risk unit that requires nurses to perform couplet care. All RNs must be willing to manage patients from start to finish including circulating C-sections. Unit is equipped with 10 labor and delivery beds and 12 postpartum beds. There are 2 operating rooms for C-sections and 3 triage beds available. Monthly, the unit handles 140-165 births. Ratios follow AWHONN guidelines; 1:3-4 for couplets and 1:1 for labor/delivery. Nurses are required to titrate drips, including Pitocin. Charge nurse or house supervisor roles may be fulfilled without taking patients. OB surgical techs are available in the unit to assist. An OB hospitalist is present 24/7, with a neonatologist on call and anesthesia in-house. All RNs must be able to read and interpret EKG strips for patients in PACU. The unit utilizes GE Corometric monitors for fetal surveillance. Shifts start at 6:45 PM, and report is conducted at the bedside. Nurses may be scheduled to float to other facilities within the network. Scrubs are provided for the staff. Charting is performed using Cerner.
